Most other Study Skill Books, websites or Programs have good ideas and help students learn to study and get higher
grades, just like the SLS System does.
Some are written in a serious and scholarly way. Some are casual and fun, just like a buddy talking to you. Still others
are written in with some comedy or funny ideas to perk your interest. They have good ideas but are limited.
+ Many other study skill books are written for college bound students since they assume most students who use them
are going to a 4-year college. 4-year colleges are full high school students who got As & Bs and lots of competition.
College students do need help. (33 – 35% of students who go to college never finish with a degree – they drop out and

+ TUTORING CENTERS/SERVICES – Teens and adult students can get tutoring help (in school, from the computer
programs or pricey private tutoring) if they have problems in reading, writing, math, etc. Some programs help students
with specific school subjects and some have study skills help.
The problem is students can’t always count on getting the help they need. Some may not qualify for the available
help in school, they have to wait a long time to get the help they need, their school may not have helpful computer
programs and private tutoring is pricy.
Many colleges and universities have cut down on money for remedial help and tutoring for students.
